1) 2010 DTE Bill Assistancenbsp;
A. If you need help with DTE bills or to prevent shut off, call 313-964-0618. Michigan is going to lose this money if it's not used.
B. Paying DTE bills up to $2,500 dollars on 12545 Kelly Road, you need ssn#s for every member of household, your identification and your bill.

If you're having trouble managing your energy bill, the Your Energy SavingsSM program offers assistance. We'll help you make improvements to your existing home at no cost if you meet the qualifications**. [DTE Program link]
The following services are available through approved weatherization agencies and subcontractors in your community:
- Installation of five compact fluorescent light (CFL) bulbs
- Replacement of inefficient refrigerators -- based on on-site testing -- with high efficiency ENERGY STAR refrigerators
- Installation of a high-efficiency variable speed motor when replacing a gas furnace
- Installation of insulation and infiltration improvements
- Replacement of inefficient equipment, such as furnaces and water heaters, with high-efficiency equipment
- Installation of programmable thermostats - gas heating only
- Energy conservation and weatherization education
**To qualify for Energy Efficiency Assistance, you must be eligible for the Department of Energy weatherization program and your household income must be at or below 200% of the federal poverty guidelines.

Florida A & M University is providing an outstanding opportunity for Black women entering college in the fall of 2009. It is designed to address their absence in the field of computer technology. Dr. Jason Black is the principal investigator of a recently awarded $552,000 NSF Grant entitled African-American Women in Computer Science. The grant provides scholarships from $4,000 to $10,000 per year for female African-American students.

Harvard University announced that from now on undergraduate students from low-income families will pay no tuition. In making the announcement, Harvard's president Lawrence H. Summers said, "When only ten percent of the students in elite higher education come from families in the lower half of the income distribution, we are not doing enough. We are not doing enough in bringing elite higher education to the lower half of the income distribution."
If you know of a family earning less than $60,000 a year with an honor student graduating from high school soon, Harvard University wants to pay the tuition. The prestigious university recently announced that from now on undergraduate students from low-income families can go to Harvard for free... no tuition and no student loans!

Roseville Residents - Tax Assistance
* Income tax preparation assistance will be available to persons who have low income or limited income, or who are elderly or disabled on Saturdays from 10:00-12 noon, at the Roseville Senior Center (18961 Common Road) by appointment only (586-777-7177), through April 15, 2011.
* The City Treasurer, Janet Haugh, will assist all eligible Roseville seniors (home owners and renters) with their Homestead Property Tax refunds and home heating credits for the 2010 tax year.
When you receive your State of Michigan Income Tax forms you may schedule an appointment by calling the Treasurer’s Office (586-445-5420). Please do not call for an appointment until you have received your information from the State of Michigan. Assistance will be available through March 7, 2011.
