DeShawn L. Johnson is the Assistant Pastor at Empowering Disciples Church where she is partnered with her husband, Jerel J. Johnson, Senior Pastor. She was called to minister at the age of 19 and has studied theology at William Tyndale College in Farmington Hills Michigan. She is a gifted teacher of the Kingdom of God, proclaimer of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and a serious student of the Word of God.
Pastor Johnson has been a Christian for over 25 years. She was ordained a minister in 1990 and served under Pastor Charles A. Craig, III of the Craig Memorial Tabernacle in Detroit, Michigan for nine years. She also served under Pastor Marvin Winans of Perfecting Church in Detroit for seven years as a licensed Evangelist, and in numerous other capacities.
Pastor Johnson is not only an anointed woman of God in the body of Christ, she is also an anointed and successful business woman, as well. DeShawn worked as a manager for Michigan Consolidated Gas Company before becoming a life/health/mortgage insurance specialist with Old Mutual Financial Life Insurance Company. She is consistently among the nation's top producers in the company.
DeShawn is a wife, ministry leader, business woman, and the proud mother of two sons, Jerel, II and Joshua.
